4. Pediatric dosing by weight
   For children aged 3 months to 12 years: typically 20–30 mg/kg/day in divided doses depending on indication (5–10 days for most infections).

   Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and transient liver enzyme elevation. Rare events (<0.2%) include renal dysfunction, severe allergic reaction, colitis, rash, and hemolysis. Use with caution if history of colitis or if patient on diuretics. 

7. Minimal drug interactions and contraindications
   Avoid in patients allergic to cephalosporins or with history of pseudomembranous colitis. Probenecid may increase cefuroxime levels; antacids reducing acidity may impair absorption.

   Safe for later pregnancy (after first trimester); small amounts excreted in breast milk—monitor for infant sensitization.
